The Mind of Christ

Paul’s letter to the Philippians is a book worth reading.  In four chapters Paul gives us counsel, encouragement and direction to be the person God wants us to be, so we may daily experience His grace, mercy, and love.  To have courage, humility and the power to be able to do things we never thought we were capable of.  In short “to have the mind of Christ.”

In chapter 1 verse 21 we see the philosophy for Christian living.  “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”  In this life Paul is seeking more of Christ.  In the next life, he will have all of Christ.

In chapter 2 verse 5 we see the pattern for Christian living.  “Have this mind among yourselves which is yours in Christ Jesus.”  Christ left behind all His rights and humbled himself to the point of putting everyone else ahead of himself.

In chapter 3 verse 14 we see the prize for Christian living.  “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”  Our purpose for the present gives us hope for the future.

In chapter 4 verse 13 we see the power for Christian living. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”  At the point of salvation Christ Jesus gives each of us the Holy Spirit who enables us to do exceedingly great things.

The Philippians were good Christians and the Philippian Church was a good church.  If we are willing to work at having the mind of Christ in our own lives and at FBC we will be like the Philippian church.  A church that Loves, Connects, Shares and Thrives.
